The projecting ears, often referred to as bat ears, are usually a congenital deformity of the ear cartilage, and for many people these large protruding or miss-shapen ears are the cause of much embarrassment and can effect an individuals self-esteem and confidence.

The reason for this condition is, in most cases, the missing pinna fold which is a cartilage fold in the ear lope. To overcome this defect, the cartilage is thinned out, remodelled and fixed in position.
